  • Devlicio.Us Day One a Success... Let the Blogging Season Begin!

Have you ever noticed that the fall is blogging season?  At least in the Northern Hemisphere, it seems to be. I dunno, it gets colder, less daylight, vacations are over... Your home computer seems warm and cozy and ready for some good ol blogging and blog surfing.  Well, yesterday it must've been in the air, because it was a great day to launch a new .NET blogging site.

Thanks to everyone who checked out Devlicio.us yesterday, especially those who emailed me looking for blogs. I am just amazed at the number of folks who asked for blogs in one day. I've managed to line up what I think are going to be some great bloggers: Christopher Bennage, Billy McCafferty, Stephen Wright, Derik Whittaker, Bob Yexley and Rob Eisenberg so far...  I'm going to limit the total number of blogs, to try to keep the feed useful, and like CodeBetter, we'll all try to keep on topic over there...

What really floored me is that these guys are all seasoned and experienced .NET bloggers...  It's going to be wild to see how a new feed of their content takes off... I'm pretty sure it's going to be good... just check out Billy's first post on Planning for vs. Reacting to Change, and Christopher's posts on custom GridView controls for a sample. So, if you haven't subscribed to our main feed (http://devlicio.us/blogs/MainFeed.aspx) please do!  If we could manage to put together another nice, meaty feed like CodeBetter's, won't that be cool?  You wouldn't want to miss out on that!

    Man, what a day!

  • Devlicio.us Launched!

For the past few months, I've been working on a new  blogging site for .NET developers.  At Devlicio.us, I'm going to try to employ some of the same techniques that we've used here at CodeBetter.Com to help us become successful, like recruiting seasoned, smart bloggers, providing branding promotion and advertisement, and hopefully crafting a mainfeed with a small number of quality posts designed to be read in a sitting.

CodeBetter.Com has over 9,000 Bloglines Subs

It's a strategy that's worked for us here at CodeBetter, in fact, today we're celebrating over 9,000 Bloglines Subscriptions!  That puts us ahead of CNET, Scripting News and USA Today's Technology feed.  In fact, CodeBetter.Com's mainfeed is amongst the top 100 blogs, according to Bloglines.

    Devlicio.us is Recruiting!

It's been hard deciding when to launch, but I've gone ahead and opened Devlicio.us' doors, even though you won't find a ton of posts there.  I have lined up a few bloggers who are getting ready to post, but my #1 priority is to sign up some great blogs.

So, if you're 1) a .NET blogger looking for a new home, and a chance to get new readership, or 2) a seasoned .NET developer looking to start a blog or 3) know anyone who falls into category 1 or 2, get in touch with me at brendan.tompkins@gmail.com.

Thanks and be sure to check us out!
